    That right there is an example of non-linear optical materials. Certain materials can modify the wavelength of incoming light – thereby, returning light that may show up as a different color (frequency). Even crazier is if the returning light is in the infra-red range. Now if that last sentence did not put you in awe – ask yourself this – who do you know that can see infra-red light? WORD!
