Its quite simple kids.......
the lion intially thought the humans were prey.......a bit of lunch or a light snack depending on what the lions eat (the humans do look very skinny and we meat eaters out there always like a bit of meat on the bones!)
....however once the music was cued .....whitney houston 'I will always love you' the lion was taken over with emotion and hugged his potential prey.........and hey who doesnt get overwhelmed by a little whitney.....lets face it kids!!!!!! she will get you all the time!
.......or the lion was channeling edward scissorhands and was trying to do something with the hair.........the hair is very scary!!!!!!!!!
and that is my take on the chain of events :)

If that is real then that is quite unbelievable, very touching~
Even though we cannot control everything that appears in the media, it could have been easily twisted to us..
I remember being told about a family in Russia a long while ago kept two lions in their APARTMENT. I think one of them ended up being put down because he attacked a neighbors dog and the other one ate the whole family ! Definitly the guys put their lives on the line..haha =0=

I saw this documentary a few weeks ago on the discovery channel. I know it’s been around for a while. This is an amazing story and great footage. Yeah, animals are completely instinctual creatures, this video is the embodiment of everything I believe about relationships with animals...they absolutely know what love is and do indeed reciprocate. The real story is even better than the video captions. They didn't "search for hours", Christian just magically showed up because he telepathically knew they were there. According to George Adamson, who spent significant time with lions in the wild, he believed that lions have a mysterious, telepathic communication ability with humans. Because the night before John and Ace were to arrive at the camp outside the conservation area where Christian now lived, Christian, his lionesses and their cubs all showed up at the camp. Christian was waiting for John and Ace on top of a rock! :-)

Animals, wild or domestic, do and can have a very close emotional bond with humans....which lasts eternally. Both of the lions were kept close to humans and maybe the lions used some kind of intuitive communication, but because Christian trusted, and created a bond with John and Ace, the lioness didn't attack.
it really shows the human like emotions that a lion is capable of feeling.

I have a question. I wonder if the lion sensed familiarity through smell or sight first?
